Resonance Absorption by a Charged Damped Oscillator: Part 3

Author: Patrick Bruskiewich
Subject: Resonance Absorption; Charged Damped Oscillator; black body radiation; Sigma Function
Language: English
Collection: pythagoraspublishing; additional_collections

Description

In Part 1 we presented a modified approach to determining the total power absorbed by a charged damped oscillator . Some of the implications of this approach were explored in Part 2. In Part 3 we introduce the Sigma function.

In this short paper it appears that we have found an ambiguity in a standard derivation for the theoretical black-body spectrum found in some standard texts.

This ambiguity leads to a number of question, such as what will we find if we look at all values for k over the region , or if we take an average. The shift of the peak in Fig. 3 lends us a clue.

This might mean that an electron as a fractal object. This will be explored in subsequent articles.
